Preschool Programs and Activities

COLOR OUR WORLD. Craft Time. Monday, June 23 and July 21. 10:30 am and 1:30 pm. Ages: 2-5 and entering kindergarten. Pre-registration is required to attend. To register your child, call the library at 812-883-5600.
COLOR OUR WORLD. Story Time. Tuesday, June 10 and July 8. 10:30 am and 1:30 pm. Ages: 2-5 and entering kindergarten. Your child will have fun with stories, songs, rhymes, games, and more. Pre-registration is required to attend. To register your child, call the library at 812-883-5600.
Popsicle Stick Extravaganza. Embrace your creative side this summer with collaborative art! Participants may decorate popsicle sticks with geometric designs, doodles, or inspirational messages. At the end of summer, the sticks will be assembled into colorful squares and displayed at the library. Visit the Children’s Department to pick yours up.
Color of the Week Scavenger Hunt. This summer, participate in a fun family activity. Every week, starting the week of the 9th, we will have a new photo posted in the Children’s Department featuring an object that is a different color of the rainbow. This object is hidden somewhere in the library. If you find it, tell the librarian in the Children’s Department and earn a prize! You may earn one prize every week. School Age Programs and Activities

School-Age Craft Program. This program is for children entering grades 1–5. Each week, kids will make a craft to go along with our summer theme. Crafts will be held at 10:30 a.m. on the following Fridays: June 13, 27 & July 11, 25. Pre-registration is required for your child to attend this program. Equus Flight Academy. Airport and Academy Tour. For Children entering grades 4-12. Tuesday, July 1st at 10:30 a.m. Tour the Academy, visit the airport, look at a plane, and try your hand at flying a plane with the Academy's Flight Simulator. Pre-registration is required. To register, call the library at 812-883-5600. This program will be held offsite at 334 Airport Blvd, Salem, IN 47167.
Wonderlab Presents "Design, Build, Test" For children entering grades 1-6. July 16th at 1:30 p.m. What does it take to be an engineer? Follow the steps of the engineering design process as we design solutions to a real life issue – space junk. What is our problem? How can we solve it? Learn about physics, systems, structure-behavior function, emergent properties and much more. Pre-registration is required. To register, call the library at 812-883-5600.

July Adult Craft Program. Alcohol Ink Coasters. Create a colorful coaster that looks fun and is functional too. Thursday, July 17th at 10:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Sign up in the adult department
Intro to Libby. Library eBooks and Audiobooks. Have you ever wanted to learn how to use ebooks and audiobooks but you weren't sure where to start? Learn how to navigate Libby, Salem Public Library's ebooks and audiobooks reading app/website, at our Intro Class. In this class, you will learn how to find your library, sign into your library account, browse and search for titles, borrow and place holds on titles, manage notifications, and more. Where: Salem Public Library. Monday, July 21st at 4:30 p.m. Pre-Registration is required.
All library programs are on a first come, first serve basis. Children should dress appropriately for craft programs. The library is not responsible for damage to clothing. The library is not responsible for items lost or left in the building. All children 8 and under must have a responsible adult over 18 present at all times for all programs on or off site.
